ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings: Ravi Ashwin Takes Over No. 1 Spot from James Anderson

The veteran Indian bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin, has replaced James Anderson as the No. 1 ranked Test bowler, marking the end of Anderson’s stay in the top spot. Anderson dropped to second place in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings following England’s loss to New Zealand in their second Test, which resulted in a tied series.

In contrast, Ashwin’s exceptional performance in the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy propelled him up the rankings, surpassing Pat Cummins to claim the top spot. Ashwin’s six-wicket haul during India’s victory against Australia was a significant factor in his ascent to the summit. This marks Ashwin’s return to the top spot, having been ranked No. 1 on several occasions since his initial ascent in 2015.

India’s Game Plan: Banking on Ashwin and Jadeja to Apply Pressure on Australia

Team India’s batting attack struggled in the ongoing third Test, and they lost several wickets, scoring only 109 runs. The Australian spinners were too difficult to handle for India.

To make a comeback in the match, they will depend on the bowling of Ashwin and Jadeja, who have performed well in the previous two Tests. The Rohit Sharma-led team needs to handle the pressure and perform better in the remaining days of the match.
