Due to the probable absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the Mumbai Indians franchise was feeling immense pressure about their pace bowling attack for the 16th season of the Indian Premier League. However, the franchise can now breathe a slight sigh of relief as Jofra Archer, who has experienced multiple injuries lately, is expected to participate in the entire season.
Despite being signed for INR 8 crore by the franchise last year, Archer did not participate in a single match due to his injuries. Nonetheless, officials from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the IPL have confirmed that Archer will be available for the entire season, with his workload being managed by his national board in the future.
“Jofra should be able to participate fully in the IPL, and as always, his franchise and the ECB will manage his workload,” an ECB insider told Cricbuzz. An IPL official added, “Jofra is definitely available; have you not seen him in action in the Dhaka ODI?”
It is worth noting that Archer has missed almost 18 months of cricket, and he only recently made his comeback to competitive cricket by participating in the SA20 league for MI Cape Town.
