The upcoming IPL will have a home-and-away format for the teams, which could be a significant advantage for teams who can take advantage of their home conditions and crowd support. Gambhir, reflecting on what is essential for the team going into the tournament, emphasized the importance of consistency and adaptability to different playing conditions, which will be different wherever the team plays.
Lucknow Super Giants is owned by the Sanjiv Goenka-owned RPSG Group, who bought the Lucknow-based franchise for a massive INR 7,090 crores. The team also made some significant purchases in the mega auction, including KL Rahul for INR 17 crores and Marcus Stoinis for INR 9.2 crores. The team’s first match will be against Delhi Capitals on March 31, 2023, in what will be the opening match for both teams.
